Introduction And Early Life of Duncan Mighty

Duncan Wene Mighty Okechukwu who is simply know as Duncan Mighty is a Nigerian musician, singer, and music producer who hails from Obio-Akpor, Rivers State. Duncan Mighty who prefer to be seen as Port Harcourt first son was born on 28th October 1983 in Port Harcourt, south southern part of Nigeria.

Duncan Wene Mighty is unarguably the biggest musician in Port Harcourt and he has been doing music for many years . There is no doubt, Duncan Mighty is one of the best and most celebrated musician from this part of the world and his musical style demonstrates a high-level of genre versatility, heavily loaded by the sounds and culture of his people and he sings most of his songs in his native Ikwerre tongue because he put his people first .

Duncan Mighty released his first studio album in 2008, he titled the album Koliwater which was a huge success. The 22-track album contain songs like “Ijeoma”, “Scatter My Dada”, “Ako Na Uche” and they were so popular like the national anthem in many neighborhood.

Duncan Mighty released his second studio album, Ahamefuna (Legacy), released in 2010 and this one has 15 tracks . The album was well received and it had huge sales across the country and some African countries. His most loved tracks are “Obianuju” and “Port Harcourt son”, these tracks brought him fame and he was able to garnered huge fan base including a huge social media followers. Duncan Wene Mighty Okechukwu is one of those Nigerian musicians who has won several awards, he earned three nominations at the 6th Annual NEA Awards in 2011 and won the “Indigenous Artist of the Year”

He released his third studio album In September 2012 and he titled this one Footprints , 18-track album which features guest appearances from some top local and international musicians like Timaya, Shaggy, Otuu Sax, Sandaz Black and Black Diamond Wande Coal. Mighty is also one of those few Nigerian artistes who have been honored by the UN as a peace ambassador.

He is widely regarded as one of the finest Nigerian musicians who have been able to remain relevant in the Nigeria Music Industry owing to the fact that he started music many years ago.

Education

Duncan Wene Mighty Okechukwu aka Duncan Mighty had his primary, secondary and university education in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. He is a graduate with a Bachelor Degree.

Career

Duncan Mighty ventured into entertainment as an instrumentalist, he started by playing drum in the church and he was a choir director those days. That was how he gradually developed interest in music and had the opportunity to study Audio engineering in school. After graduating from school it was time for his Youth Service then he used that opportunity to work as a sound instructor for Benson and Hedges. After that , he worked at Dolphin Studios while on IT at Muson Centre in Lagos. He was able to gather some experience in music and decided to start a career as a music production.

After gathering some experience in the field for some years, he returned to Port Harcourt and was working with record companies D Large Records and 360 Records, before he teamed up with Chris Aire to set up AireMighty Records. The following year he released his first studio album, Koliwater in  2008 that was how he managed to ink his name in the great book of top Nigerian entertainers. His first album was so massive and it was accepted my music lovers , the twenty two tracks album spawns hit tracks like “Ijeoma”, “Scatter My Dada”, “Dance For Me” and “Ako Na Uche” .

Following the success of his first album, he began working on his second studio album Ahamefuna (Legacy) , which was later released in the second quarter 2010. He produced the album himself and he was applauded for his capability. The Ahamefuna abum was preceded by the lead single “I Don’t Give A Shot” which was a big song that enjoyed massive air-waves. He also went ahead to release his third studio album Footprints in September 2012. His Footprints album features some top music merchants like Shaggy, Otuu Sax, Sandaz Black, Timaya and Wande Coal.

His most recent album Grace & Talent was released in 2014 which is his fourth studio album. This highly anticipated album was released through the imprint of Young Wealth Records. Some artistes called to the table on this include Tick Lips, J Flex , Phyno Phino,Young Stunna to name a few.

Mighty is one of the most industrious musicians in Nigeria according to music critics and industry, he is also one of those Nigerian artiste with the highest number of albums.

Personal Life: Marriage & Wife

Duncan Mighty and his long time girlfriend Vivien got married on 25 July 2015, the wedding was done on a low key and it was strictly on invitation. Few celebrities was at the event and gospel artist Sammie Okposo was among the artistes that performed.
