Five Chelsea players nominated for monthly awards

The Blues have a host of nominations in the Premier League’s monthly awards categories for November.

October was a Chelsea double, as Antonio Conte was named Manager of the Month and Eden Hazard took the player prize, both rewarded after we took maximum points without conceding a goal.

Conte is once again nominated for the manager’s award after steering us through November with a 100 per cent record following wins over Everton, Middlesbrough and Tottenham.

Two of our players – Diego Costa and Pedro – have also been nominated for the Player of the Month prize after enjoying fine spells in the team.

Diego Costa has led the line impressively all season and it was his goal which ensured we took all three points at the Riverside Stadium. He is currently the Premier League’s joint-top scorer with 10 goals to his name.

Pedro has been in magnificent form of late, playing on the right-hand side of the front three. The Spaniard completed the scoring in our 5-0 win over Everton at the start of November and performed extremely well at Middlesbrough, hitting the bar with a superb first-time effort from distance. He rounded off a fine month by scoring our equaliser in last Saturday’s 2-1 win over Tottenham.

That goal is one of two Chelsea strikes which have been nominated for November’s Goal of the Month award. Hazard’s wonderful solo effort against Everton, which made it 4-0, is also among the contenders for the award.

Three Chelsea players – David Luiz, N’Golo Kante and Eden Hazard – have also been named among the list of nominees for the FIFPro 2016 World 11.

The World 11 is voted for exclusively by professional players across 75 countries, with the final team set to be announced on 9 January at the Ballon d’Or ceremony.
